At a Glance

Bright and pure with bramble flavours, freshness and balance. Made from ripe, juicy Barbera grapes grown in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont. Skilfully developed into aromatic Barbera in our SW6 winery and matured using a mixture of new and old oak to build a silky tannic structure. Try it with a herb-crusted rack of lamb with smooth, butter bean mash and red wine jus.

The Corderos run their family vineyard in Piedmont
Extraordinary fragrance and expression – full of astonishing and bright floral character. The purity of the fruit shines through too. The violet scent is straight out of the textbook for the best Barbera.

In Depth

The Corderos run a family business in Piedmont, north-west Italy, growing organic grapes for wine and making peppery salami from home-reared cattle. It sounds idyllic, and it is - their village has only 20 houses and is surrounded by a leafy truffle forest. Our Barbera grapes were grown on a sun-soaked sloping vineyard nearby. After hand-sorting on arrival, they were left to cold soak for three days to extract colour and aromatics. Following fermentation the wine was pressed and aged in a mixture of old and new oak. The oak components helped to build tannic structure and texture, while the tank soaking and fermentation allowed the fresh, aromatic qualities of this variety to shine.
