At a Glance

Our very first rosé has a delicate copper hue and a fresh, aromatic nose with subtle flavours of grapefruit, lychee and strawberry. The grapes were grown in a sunny vineyard on the outskirts of a traditional Italian Piedmontese hamlet, and were then made into this limited-edition wine in London using the saignée method. Try it with an unctuous risotto Milanese and peppery rocket salad.

In Depth

Giovanni Cordero and his two sons run a family business growing organic Barbera, Nebbiolo and Dolcetto, as well as raising Piedmontese cattle to make salami. Their vineyards lie on the fringes of a traditional Italian hamlet and within walking distance of a beautiful truffle forest. The Barbera grapes arrived at the winery in exquisite condition and Gavin set to work making London Cru’s first rosé. Made with the saignée method, the juice spent six hours in contact with the grape skins to give it colour, before being separated and fermented in a stainless steel tank. The wine was left on its lees (leftover yeast cells from fermentation) to develop delicious grapefruit, lychee and strawberry flavours and a rounded mouthfeel.
