WINE MAKER FOR A DAY

For this 5 hour event, we look past flavours and aromas and pull the curtain back on how wines are really made. With a focus on sensory experimentation, tasting, and benchmarking acids, alcohol, sugars, and tannins. The aim of the morning is to immerse ourselves in the world of wine in a unique cellar-setting to build the skills to approach wine like a winemaker.

In the morning session, we will focus on understanding how wines are made, covering topics like grape structure and when to harvest. We will then taste some of London Cru’s very own wines along with other international wines from popular grape-growing regions. This will bring things into perspective with a detailed dive into how each of the classic wine styles are made right here in London.

We then take a break for lunch, with a two-course meal at The Atlas gastropub. Lunch is all included and if you have any dietary requirements, they will be catered for. This is your chance to relax after a morning's tasting or put your first round of wine analysis skills to the test.

Back at the winery, the afternoon focuses on building tasting skills, benchmarking key wine attributes, and understanding how blending is actually done.

Finally, you will use your newfound skills to create your own Bordeaux-inspired signature cuvée. You can take this home to share with friends and family or enjoy all by yourself!

This event starts promptly, so please arrive on time at 11am. The day runs until around 4pm.

‘Winemaker for a Day’ is held at our winery on Seagrave Road – the nearest station is West Brompton and we are a short walk from Earl’s Court.

“I won't spoil the surprise, but being able to doctor one of their wines to exaggerate the different characteristics was fantastic.” Mark O

“...a brilliant day. If you have a wine lover and are stuck for a different present then we can recommend this.” Susan K
